Reflection Writing #2
I think my project is going very well so far. I haven't really had any problems. I have not completed my week by week time line yet but I plan to soon. I think making my week by week time line is going to be a little hard. I have no idea what I'm going to be doing week by week. I haven't made any changes to my proposal. I have not met for a 2nd time with my mentor yet but I think it will go well. I think I'm going to interview the person who gives me the tour of the Gnu snowboard factory. I am planning to set up a sheet with questions to ask. I am going to bring a camera and note pad and pencil to help document the process of making a snowboard. I have started to read some books. I think I'll learn a lot when I go to Gnu's factory. It kind of surprised me that Gnu is going to let me come see their and give me a tour. This should be a fun project.
Reflection Writing #1
I first chose to make a ski/snowboard video with River Ellis. Our proposal didn’t get accepted so I decided to do a project on the history, design and manufacturing of snowboards. I sent letters to K2, Ride and Gnu which are all local snowboard companies. In the letters I asked them if I could get a tour of their factory. All the companies have sent letters back or called. K2 and Ride both make their snowboards in China so a tour isn’t going to happen. They sent a letter describing the processes and materials of making snowboards. I called Gnu and they make their snowboards in Sequim, Washington and we set up a time to go to the factory on March 24. My long form proposal was pretty straight forward and not too hard to write. I don’t know who my mentor is yet. The only thing I have done on my project so far is order some books on my topic, sent letters and made an appointment to visit Gnu’s factory. I think my time line is reasonable. I will focus on research and a visit to a snowboard manufacturing facility.
